Lights, camera, action?

Not long after the purchase and driving a little around I upgraded the headlights. Really not surprisingly if you take a 40-year-old Toyota out at night with the two original candle lamps up front.

I went with the Chinese special holo lights. There were two types — one with the ring at the parameter of the glass and other with the ring is maybe 1–2cm smaller. You never know what you going to get in an AliExpress package, so I lucked out with the one with the bigger ring.

The difference is — if you excuse the pun — night and day.

These are also not sticking out so much as the one Icon puts on their builds. I’ve seen on YouTube that Proffitt’s Resurrections once went an extra mile to recess these lights to match the bib. Mine came like this from the factory which I am very pleased with.

Getting it registered was a different story, that we don’t have to go into right now…

I am still on the old tires, but the winch has a synthetic rope now, bib is resprayed white and the bullbar is gone. Not many kangaroos around south of Poland.

Build log

  • 28 metres synthetic rope in a sleeve for $125
  • 7" headlights for $75 (pair) 60W from Aliexpress
  • Can of white spray laying around
